A cookie is a small text file that some websites send to the user's hard drive when the user visits the site. A cookie can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to check the pages visited, but the only personally identifiable information a cookie can contain is information provided by the user. A cookie cannot read data on the user's hard disk or read cookies created by other sites. Some areas of the company's site employ cookies to record how users navigate the site. The company uses cookies to determine the degree of usefulness of the information it provides to its users and to test the effectiveness of the site's navigational structure in relation to the help support offered to the user to obtain that information. If users do not wish to receive cookies while browsing the site, they can program their browsers to warn them before accepting cookies and reject cookies when the browser alerts them to the presence of cookies. The user can also refuse all cookies by disabling them in their browser, although by doing so the user would then not be able to take full advantage of the benefits of the site. In particular, the user may be asked to accept cookies in order to perform certain operations on the website. However, it is not necessary for the user to accept all cookies in order to use/navigate in many areas of the company's website, except where registration and a password are required to access specific web pages.
Cookies are used on the Web site and in emails sent to provide users with a
better service and experience. The site uses analytical, technical and functionality cookies to analyze the traffic patterns of users who visit the company's Web site in order to improve the usability of the site, enabling it to recognize returning users and their data, so that the same information does not have to be entered multiple times.
Technical cookies, for example, allow users to take advantage of services requested through the site without having to continually log in and to remember any actions performed by the user (such as completing a form) when returning to the previous page of a session.
Analytical cookies are used by the company to monitor users' use of the site for site optimization purposes and to obtain information about the use of the Web site, e-mail, and to alert them to errors.
