AU, EU
Millable polyurethane rubbers are divided into two types: polyester urethane (AU) and polyether urethane (EU).
AU-type urethanes have exceptional resistance to oil, fuel and solvents, but can be attacked by hydrolysis.
EU-style urethanes are not attacked by hydrolysis and still offer fuel and oil resistance comparable to nitriles or low-ACN HNBRs (18 to 22% ACN).
Any type of polyurethane has excellent wear resistance making it ideal for applications subject to mechanical stress and repeated abrasion, it has higher tensile strength and elasticity than any other elastomer.
Urethane O-rings are generally clear in color and have an unlimited shelf life. Due to its excellent mechanical and chemical properties, polyurethane is used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, hydraulics and pneumatics, household appliances and much more.
